Weaverville/Douglas City Parks & Recreation District Youth Basketball League sponsored by Velocity Communications continued its season this past weekend. Games started on Friday, Feb. 15, at the WDCPRD Recreation Hall and continued on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Weaverville Elementary School gymnasium. Week 5 scores and standings are as follows:

Mini Division (Pre-K), scoring was not kept as per league rules: The first game of the week took place in the “Minis” Division for Pre-K aged children. The two teams played 3-on-3 basketball.

Pee Wee Division (K-2nd graders), scoring was not kept as per league rules: The second game of Friday evening was in the Pee-Wee Division. The Nuggets hosted the visiting Warriors. This was the only Pee-Wee action of the weekend because WDCPRD games on Saturday were canceled due to weather.

JV Division Girls (3rd-5th graders): There were no JV Girls basketball games last weekend because games were canceled. Games will proceed as scheduled Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Weaverville Elementary School gymnasium. The Comets will host the Mystics at 11:30 a.m. Then at 1 p.m. the Mystics will play the visiting Monarchs.

JV Division Boys (3rd-5th graders): There were no JV Boys basketball games last weekend because games were canceled. Games will proceed as scheduled Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Weaverville Elementary School gymnasium. At 10 a.m. the Plotzke Ace Hardware Raptors will host the Bulls. Following that game at 10:45 a.m. the Sheen Photography Kings square off with the Timberwolves. The final JV Boys game of the weekend will be at 12:15 p.m. between the Sheen Photography Kings and the Lakers.
