Sports Camps new start date

Due to this past weekend’s spike in COVID-19 cases, the Weaverville/Douglas City Parks & Recreation District is pushing back the start of its sports camps for safety reasons.

The district would like to assure parents and campers that no one from its office or organization has tested positive or received any notification of exposure.

The district’s mission is to provide positive, fun and safe recreational activities for the community. With the goal of safety for campers, counselors and staff, the district is pushing camp start dates to next week. Camps will now run starting the week of Oct. 12 and run through the week of Nov. 9. District officials will contact everyone this week with their check-in information for their first day of camp.

If you have any questions, call the district office at 623-5925. You may visit the district’s website at and/or Facebook page for updates.
