Beat the heat

A hat full of water from a mountain stream is just what’s needed to cool off during a hike in the summer temperatures. Cathy Anderson takes a moment to cool off on a hot day at Little Deep Creek on the Stuart Fork Trail in the Trinity Alps Wilderness during a backpacking trip over the weekend. In Weaverville, temperatures were even higher last week, topping out at 106 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday. This week is a little less sweltering, with forecast highs of 105 Wednesday and Thursday, then slowly dropping the next few days (but still really hot).
