The Hayfork boys basketball team (2-6, 1-0) went 1-2 at Etna Tournament Jan. 2-4.

On Thursday, the Timberjacks defeated Happy Camp 49-43. Happy Camp led 8-6 after the first quarter, but Hayfork would rally in the second to take a 20-11 halftime lead. The Indians would close the gap to 34-31 at the end of the third, but Hayfork held on for the win. William Kasper led the way with 29 points and five rebounds, while Sam Barnett added seven points and five rebounds. Hayden Carini led the way on the boards with seven rebounds.

On Friday, Hayfork lost 56-49 to host Etna. The Timberjacks led 28-27 at halftime, but Etna roared back with an 18-9 third quarter to seize control en route to victory. Kasper had 19 points and Martin Carini added 13 points and 11 rebounds, with Nathan Williams scoring nine and pulling down six boards.

On Saturday, Hayfork dropped a 71-53 decision to rival Trinity. The Wolves led 20-11 after one and 41-33 at halftime. After playing nearly even in the third quarter, Trinity put the game away with a 21-10 fourth quarter. For Hayfork, Martin Carini scored 22 and piled up 18 rebounds, while Kasper added 18 points and four steals.

Trinity boys basketball

The varsity Wolves (7-9) went 2-1 at the Etna Tournament Jan. 2-4.

On Thursday, Trinity opened with a 65-39 win over Greenville.

On Friday, the Wolves fell 56-41 to nemesis Fall River. The game was tied at 13 after the first quarter, but Fall River would outscore Trinity in each of the next three quarters for the win.

On Saturday, Trinity would score a 71-53 win over rival Hayfork. The Wolves led 20-11 after one and 41-33 at halftime. After playing nearly even in the third quarter, Trinity put the game away with a 21-10 fourth quarter.

Trinity begins league play Saturday at Modoc.

No scores were reported for the Trinity varsity girls games at the Jan. 2-4 Etna Tournament. The Lady Wolves were 6-5 on the season entering the tournament.

All-league honors

The following Trinity High School athletes were named to all-league teams for fall: For football, Ethan Pike and Scotty Rupp were selected first team Mountain Valley League. In soccer, Ari Gaueman was selected honorable mention. In volleyball, Julia Norman received honorable mention.
