The 2019 Trinity High School Sports Hall of Fame selections were announced Saturday, July 6, during the Alumni Day in the Park gathering.
Charles Downen — Basketball point guard who played for coach Keith McKinney’s championship teams, 1966
Kelly Plew — Football all-league three years, basketball all league, baseball all-section team, 1997
Frank Marques — Baseball all-section team, all-state team, 1997
Dalton Marques — Football all-section, all-state, Mike Polka Award, 1999
Paul Fackrell — Football, 1998 Mike Polka Award, basketball-baseball all-league, 1999
Roxanne Redenius — Field hockey, basketball, volleyball, track, 1976
Emma Fackrell — Volleyball MVP and all-league Shasta Cascade League, 2005
Ashley Britton — Cross country/track, section champion triple jump, 2006
1975 Varsity Baseball team — Shasta Cascade League champions, 21-6 record, “the little red machine” stole more than 160 bases. Team members were Gary Carpenter, Joe Carpenter, Ric Loomis, Gary Killan, Jim Kennedy, Eric Hubbert, Mike Polka, Bill Alward, Jerry Wells, John Hiett, Dale Miller, Mike Sanchez, Kurt Humble, Jim Hazen, Brian Hubbell, Andy Berrian, Tom Neff, Chris Gregory, Janet Mahoney and Jerri Crosswhite. Coaches were Terry Cato and John Ratliff (Yearbook 1975).
Trinity High School Field Hockey — 1960s to post-title IX instructors and coaches Marnie Clough, Ruthanne Frank and Carole Miller.
Mike Plotzke — Football and basketball announcer (retired). Other individuals similarly inducted were Larry Forero, Don Palmer and Bob Simmons.
Plotzke has done both football and basketball for more than 15 seasons.
The Trinity High Sports Hall of Fame dinner/induction program is set for Oct. 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Trinity Alps Restaurant and Golf Course, Weaverville.
