Over the holidays the Trinity High School boys basketball team participated in a tournament in which they started slow, but were able to end things with a victory. They opened up with a game against the Fort Bragg Timberwolves, and it was a close contest. After four hard-fought quarters, Fort Bragg managed to hang on to a five-point lead to defeat Trinity 49-44.

In the Wolves’ following game they faced off against Del Norte, which brought down Trinity by a score of 53-38.

Finally, in the last game of the weekend, THS rounded into form. The Pack soundly defeated Round Mountain by 21 points, ending things on a 49-28 victory.

Trinity girls basketball

The Trinity Wolves girls basketball team also competed in a tournament just before the new year began, and they fared quite well. In their first game against the Del Norte Warriors they were victorious, 50-42 being the final score. The Wolves had two double digit scorers, senior Aubrey Prunty and sophomore Chloe Albiez, to go along with Prunty and junior Brynn Scribner’s double-digit rebounds.

In their next game though, the Trinity squad struggled, falling to the Windsor Jaguars 70-37.

The team was able to bounce back from the defeat, getting back into the win column against Clear Lake, 45-34. This time three Wolves did the bulk of the work on offense, with Scribner, Prunty and junior Grace Moodie combining for 43 of the Trinity’s 45 points. Defensively, Albiez led the way with 13 rebounds, and Prunty tallied four blocks to help the Wolves stay in control of the game.

The girls (12-3 overall) are next scheduled to play Mt. Shasta at home on Friday, Jan. 14.
