To me Christine Edwards is the ultimate example of a public servant.

Serving for 23 years as Trinity County’s animal control officer, she started with a pathetic inventory of a building, lack of funding and limited help. She built the center up through fundraising and trained volunteers to help her run the facilities and best of all, made it a no-kill shelter. Now that’s a big-hearted gal who loves animals.

Congratulations on choosing her as grand marshal of the 4th of July parade. The Rotary Club and Dr. Nickerson could not have picked a more deserving person. Like I said in a letter to the Journal when she retired, if I was a dog I would lick her on the cheek and wag my tail. What a wonderful person.
