“Quid pro quo” was a little- known Latin phrase until the advent of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Its English translation is this for that. Congress’ ongoing star chamber impeachment inquiry is nothing short of a maniacal joke.
The circus is based on President Trump’s use of foreign aid as a tool of influence in the Ukraine. Is he guilty? Absolutely. What is lost in the debate is that a quid pro quo is the very purpose of foreign aid. Every single penny of foreign aid comes with a quid pro quo. The same goes for domestic aid. It’s bribery money that the District of Criminals uses to buy influence and control, across the union and across the world. So, to impeach Trump for executing a policy in place long before his arrival is disingenuous at best.
So, what’s the objective? I believe its purpose is to affect the outcome of the 2020 election. The Democrats have some horrible candidates and they know it. Ironically that’s the very thing Trump is accused of doing. What should occur is the abolishment of both foreign aid and domestic aid, entirely.
DC is constitutionally mandated to spend money only on those few authorities enumerated in Article 1, Section 8. It’s illegal (unconstitutional) to give a penny of taxpayer money to a foreign government. It’s also illegal to provide a state, or subdivision thereof, with federal money, except to fulfill a legitimate federal function. If someone can articulate that Article 1, Section 8 authority please do.
My statist disclaimer; do not insult our intelligence with the misnamed General Welfare Clause, the Commerce Clause or the Necessary and Proper Clause. These clauses have very narrow and specific intent. They are not the Santa Claus clauses that statists are want to purport.
