I am writing this letter to protest the continued gouging of the residents of our town by the petroleum companies. This also backs up a letter written by another resident a month or so ago.
For a very long time we have been paying from 20 cents to 80 cents a gallon more than gas in Redding. Just a couple of days ago I paid $2.79 a gallon for gas in Redding. At that time it was $3.27 a gallon here. Day before yesterday, July 3, stations here went up another 10 cents a gallon. Now we are paying 58 cents a gallon more than Redding.
I realize that it costs something to transport fuel from Redding, but I seriously doubt that it is near as much as they are overcharging us. I expect to pay reasonable costs for transporting food and fuel to our area but being gouged continually is not reasonable.
It would seem that local officials would protest this to California Consumer Protection agencies.
