It is with great sadness that we announce that Ray Bushman went to live with Jesus on April 4, 2020.
He is survived by his wife Claudette Bushman; children Cathy Curry, Brigette O’Conner, Clifford and Bill Bushman; grandchildren Daniel and Thomas Curry, Claudia, James, Nicolas and Alex O’Conner, Paige and Brandon Bushman; siblings Marge Cole, Dalores Frye, Nick Bushman and Walt Bushman (deceased); and special son John Romandia. He loved his dog Lily.
Ray was born Nov. 5, 1938, to William and Elma Bushman in Eureka, Calif.
After graduating high school, Ray married his high school sweetheart Claudette on March 12, 1957.
Ray took some college courses and went on to start his own Machine shop in San Jose, CA.
In 1984 Ray closed his business in San Jose, Calif., and moved his family to Mad River, Calif., where he enjoyed having a small machine shop in his back yard and living the country life for 36 years.
Ray Bushman can include the following as part of his life’s accomplishments:
• One of the founding members of Mad River Volunteer Fire Department.
• 16 years as Planning Commissioner for District 5 (Trinity County).
• Six Rivers Lions Club member.
• Six Rivers Seniors.
Ray will be remembered for his warm smile, willingness to help others and love of Fox News.
Ray found his faith in God later in life at Lamb Creek Christian Center in Mad River.
Ray’s favorite bible verse is Psalms 23.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Ray was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
Donations can be made in Ray Bushman’s honor to Southern Trinity Area Rescue or Mad River Volunteer Fire Department.
Services will be held at a later date.
