John S. Peltier

John Scot Peltier passed away Oct. 27, 2020 at 51.

John was born on Dec. 9, 1968, and grew up in Trinity County. He attended Hayfork schools K-12 where he met many lifelong friends.

After graduation he went in the Army and trained at Fort Knox as a Mt. Abrams crew member, then deployed in Germany until discharged. Not long after he was called back for Operation Desert Storm.

Once again returning to civilian life he married Brenda Johnson, a former classmate, then started a family. When Sierra Pacific closed the mill in Hayfork, John worked in Burney for S.P. as a timber grader. After many years John experienced punishing headaches that was soon diagnosed as multiple sclerosis. It took many years to lose his battle with M.S.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcia Peltier; and is survived by his daughter Amanda Barrera-Juan, son Brandon Peltier, their mother Brenda Johnson; sister Kathy Semer-Reuben, brother Matt Peltier and father Alan Peltier; and many lifelong friends and relatives.

A celebration of life will be held once the pandemic is under control.
