Riley Earl Young was born wanting to love and help everyone around him. He loved to laugh and couldn’t wait to share a good joke. He loved 4-H, veterans, America, God, and his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and was an excellent athlete.
Riley was on the student council and was prom king at Southern Trinity High and on the football team and homecoming king at Hayfork. He attended Santa Rosa Jr. College and majored in English.
Riley was a hard worker thanks to Lynn Dillon, Tommy Morss, Roni Millsap and Earl Roberts. He was an active member of the community and involved with STAR as an EMT and a volunteer firefighter in STVFD, both of which went along with his aspired career of a firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service.
Riley had a gift for using the right words at the right time. His grace before our Thanksgiving meal was very special and always meant a lot. We will miss the importance of it greatly.
A celebration of his life will be held at Pamplin Grove on Highway 36 from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. Let’s all remember the fun and good times we were blessed to have.
