Lucinda Adrian passed away peacefully on Nov. 6, 2019, at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, surrounded by people who loved her. She was 77 years old.
She was born in Oakland, daughter of Ira and Norma Adrian, and grew up in various places in Northern California and Idaho, graduating from Trinity High School in Weaverville in 1960. She married Robert Berto in 1962 and moved to the Bay Area, settling in San Mateo and later Belmont. Her son Matthew was born in 1968, and daughter Rachel was born in 1969. She had a long career as a travel agent and was able to tour the world, visiting nearly every continent.
After she retired, she moved to Applegate, Calif., to be closer to her grandchildren. She gave her time to a number of local community organizations, including Horses for Healing, Sight Word Busters, and the Humane Society of the Sierra Foothills Bookstore.
She is survived by her son Matthew Berto, daughter Rachel Berto Kringel, son-in-law David Kringel, granddaughters Maddie and Ellie Kringel, siblings Arden Fleming, David Adrian, Burke Adrian, and Shelly Begun.
She loved horses, dogs, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and especially her granddaughters, who will miss their “Nana.”
A private memorial service will be held on Nov. 24 in Applegate. Donations in her name can be made to Hope for Paws animal rescue.
