Earl B. “Blaine” Burger passed away, suddenly of natural causes, at this home in Douglas City on Aug. 22, 2019. He was 71.
Blaine was born to Earl M. and Erma J. Burger on Dec 29, 1947, and raised in Sisquoc, Calif., and graduated from Righetti High School in Santa Maria in 1965. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served on the U.S.S. Providence, the Commander of the Seventh Fleet, for four years during the Vietnam conflict. After his discharge Blaine began his career in the oil industry.
In 1982 he moved to Trinity County where he worked as a mechanic and welder. He loved the serenity of Northern California. Blaine also loved his friends, riding his quad with his buddies and cutting wood. His hobby was his beloved “Wet Rat,” a rat rod which he designed and built. It took him three and a half years to complete.
Blaine is survived by his wife Jan; his son and daughter, Brandon and Tiffani Burger of Santa Maria, Calif.; and stepchildren Scott Lasham of Weaverville, Christy Nieri of Redding, and Tamara Escareno of Arcata. He is also survived by his brother Jerry Burger and wife Nancy of Benicia, Calif.; and his sister Teresa and husband John Rivas of Sisquoc, Calif., plus many nieces and nephews.
We will all miss him and loved him very much. Please come celebrate his life with us from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Tangle Blue Saloon with a potluck gathering. BBQ chicken and tri-tip will be provided so a salad, side dish or dessert would be so welcomed.
