Trinity County District 2 Sup. Judy Morris of Weaverville has announced she will not seek another term on the Trinity County Board of Supervisors.
“I’m honored that for the last 11 years, I’ve been able to work on important issues with this community and our regional and statewide partners,” Morris said, adding, “I feel very fortunate that the voters of District 2 have put their faith in me, and I hope a candidate comes forward who can keep the county moving into the future.”
She plans to serve the remaining year of her current term through 2020, and said she will focus on “long-term goals to finish out during this upcoming year. Beyond that, I’m anxious to explore how I can leverage what I’ve learned in this office to benefit individuals and organizations in both the public and private sectors.”
In districts where the incumbent doesn’t file for re-election, the filing deadline is extended from Dec. 6 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, allowing additional time for other candidates to file. The incumbent District 5 Sup. John Fenley is also not seeking re-election, so the deadline has been extended to Dec. 11 in both Districts 2 and 5.
