Celebrating Veterans Day

Flags line the streets of downtown Weaverville on Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11. In 2013, the Weaverville Lions Club renamed their flag project the “Homer Zugg Memorial Flag Project” honoring long time member Homer Zugg, a veteran who felt this was a program that needed to be accomplished and who was a key member is making sure the flags were in place for the many holidays that are observed. The flags are flown on Martin Lutheran King’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Patriot’s Day and Veterans Day.
