Highway 36 is currently closed to westbound traffic at the junction with Highway 3 and to eastbound traffic at South Fork Mountain Road in Trinity County due to fire operations within the North Zone of the August Complex. Estimated time of opening the highway is dependent on operations and fire behavior.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes for travel. 24/7 roadway conditions are available via Caltrans' QuickMap (also available by free

app for your smartphone) and the Caltrans Highway Information Network at 1-800-427-7623. Updated roadway information can also be found on Caltrans' Facebook and Twitter pages.

As of Friday morning, Sept. 25, the August Complex has burned 867,335 acres and is 40 percent contained (all zones of the fire).
