After investigating a dispute between a male and female in Weaverville, deputies arrested both for a variety of drug-related charges.
According to a release from Trinity County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to 80 Mill St. in Weaverville at about 2 a.m. for a report of a physical fight in progress. There, they contacted Justice Smart, 24, and learned that the other subject, Desirae Hasty, 31, had left the residence.
“Deputies discovered that Smart was on probation and had several outstanding arrest warrants in Trinity County,” the release said. “While searching Smart’s residence, deputies found various amounts of drugs and drug paraphernalia, as well as another subject, who was hiding inside the residence.” Hasty was later located and taken into custody.
“In total, the deputies located 330 grams of methamphetamine, 52 Xanax pills, 13 Oxycodone pills, 59.5 grams of cocaine, 80 ecstasy pills, 17 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, four firearms, several digital scales and $10,973 US currency,” the release said.
In addition to their warrants, the pair was arrested for possession of controlled substances for sale, possession of narcotics for sale, possession of controlled substances while armed and violation of probation.
As of Monday, Hastey was being held in Trinity County jail without bail and Smart was being held on $250,000 bail.
