A fugitive wanted in Virginia was apprehended by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies during a traffic stop in Hayfork on Monday, an FBI spokesperson said.

FBI Public Affairs Specialist Gina Swankie said the agency was assisted by the California Highway Patrol and Trinity County Sheriff’s Office.

“At this time, we do not have additional details to provide,” Swankie said.

This action follows the large-scale warrant searches by the FBI in Hayfork and Trinity Pines on July 24. The Sheriff’s Office, which assisted with abatement of illegally cultivated cannabis as a result of the warrants, said the FBI was conducting a nationwide investigation into organized crime affiliations.
