Burns planned in Big Creek Ranch area

Posted: Wednesday, September 26, 2012 6:15 am

The Watershed Research and Training Center, along with the local volunteer fire departments, private landowners and contracted fire suppression resources, including hand crews and fire engines, are planning to conduct prescribed burns in the Big Creek Ranch area beginning this fall. Prescribed burning will only occur when environmental factors such as wind, temperature and relative humidity are favorable.

The prescribed fire managers will coordinate with the North Coast Air Quality Management District regarding smoke management. Smoke will be visible from the Hayfork area but is not expected to linger because the primary vegetation burned will be grass and brush. If you have concerns during the course of the burn contact the WRTC at 628-4206.
