Southern Trinity fire relief organizers said Monday they are at 10 percent of their goal of $20,000.

On Thursday the Trinity Community Food Outreach, with support of partners Pay it Forward Humboldt and the Trinity County Agriculture Alliance, took two box trucks full of food, water, sleeping bags, tents, camp stoves, propane canisters, bedding, warm jackets, flashlights, personal hygiene products, and gift cards to Mad River, Kettempom, Hettenshaw and the Hayfork Fairgrounds.

Some of the evacuation orders have been lifted and organizers anticipate a greater need as people return and find homes have been destroyed. It’s going to be a long process, organizers remind us, as the fire passes and the people return.

Organizers have a gofundme campaign going on Facebook (Relief for Southern Trinity County August fire North) or you can send a check or money order to P.O. Box 1123, Weaverville CA 96093, or call Jeffry England at 739-0983.
