Update: The fire has been contained at a quarter acre.


Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire in the Weaverville Community Forest off Mill Street this morning.

The fire was reported at approximately 7:20 a.m. At shortly after 8 a.m. Weaverville Fire Capt. Scott Alvord said the blaze had been surrounded by hoseline and by a preliminary fire line. The fire was about a quarter acre in brush.

The cause is being investigated, he said.
