Promotions at WFD

Chief Todd Corbett has announced the promotion of two members of the Weaverville Fire Department.

Henry Boorman and Ted Pierce were each promoted recently, and were recognized by Chief Corbett at a ceremony during the September dinner meeting.

Capt. Boorman was promoted to the position of Assistant Chief. The assistant chief position is a volunteer administrative, managerial and supervisory position. Boorman first joined the Weaverville Fire Department in 1991 and has held the position of firefighter, engineer, captain, and assistant chief in the past.

Engineer Pierce was promoted to the position of captain. He first joined the department in 2009 and is currently coordinating its Hazard Reduction program. The captain’s position is volunteer position and requires an advanced knowledge of firefighting practices. Captains with the Weaverville Fire Department work as on-call duty officers to assure that there is always someone available to respond.
