A Hayfork man died Thursday, July 28, as a result of an explosion in his workshop. Jefferson Frye, 33, was taken to the hospital at about 8:15 a.m. with a severed femoral artery and died of apparent blood loss, according to authorities.

Sheriff’s Det. Josh Ford said evidence indicated Frye had been disassembling a pressurized vehicle airbag canister in his workshop when it burst, causing the wound to his leg.
