A Weaverville man was killed and a Redding woman arrested for suspected DUI after a crash Saturday evening, May 23, on Highway 3 north of Weaverville.
Mayra Romero-Garcia, 33, was arrested for suspected DUI causing death or injury after being taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
According to California Highway Patrol, officers arrived at the crash on Highway 3 north of Slate Creek Road, along with Trinity County Life Support, Trinity Sheriff’s Office and Cal Fire personnel at about 6 p.m. Saturday.
“Upon arrival, it was determined that Romero-Garcia was driving a 2008 Chevy pickup southbound on SR-3 at an unknown high rate of speed,” the CHP report said. “Romero-Garcia allowed the Chevy to cross left over the double yellow lines and then back to the right where the Chevy left the roadway and collided with trees.
Troy Braudrick, 41, was seated in the right front passenger side and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been notified.
The CHP Trinity River Area Office is continuing to investigate this collision and asks anyone who may have information to contact the Trinity River Area CHP Office at 623-3832.
