Hopkins fire

Smoke plume from the Hopkins fire Tuesday evening, shot from Highway 36/South Fork Mountain Road.

The Hopkins fire on the west side of the Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness, south of Highway 36, has grown to 49,887 acres as of this morning with no containment. The fire is very active with significant growth toward the north and toward Ruth.

Evacuation orders or in place for Zenia, Kettenpom, Hettenshaw Valley, and all areas south of Ruth.

Evacuation warnings have been issued for Ruth, Ruth Lake, Mad River, Forest Glen, and Post Mountain. Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave now.

A temporary evacuation point remains at Southern Trinity High School, 600 Van Duzen Road, Mad River.
