Update: Per Cal Fire Battalion Chief Troy Velin, the house fire on Bear Creek Road north of Weaverville is contained and in mop up. The home was destroyed. There was no spread to vegetation. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. In addition to Cal Fire, the U.S. Forest Service and the Weaverville, Douglas City and Coffee Creek volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze.


Update: The fire is reported at this point to be contained to one single-family home, single story, which is fully involved in flames.


Firefighters are responding to a report of a structure fire up Bear Creek Road, which is north of Weaverville, scanner traffic indicates.

Full court press! I like it! The days of allowing fire to be a part of the landscape have past. If we've learned nothing else in the past fews years, at least we've finally got this one.

Fire is a ruthless and capricious enemy that must be stamped out at the first sign of smoke.

Thanks firefighters! We needed that.
