THE NEWS BACK THEN
150 YEARS AGO | Saturday, July 28, 1860 Next week we hope to give our readers some items from the census roll of Marshal Nunnally. A SENIOR’S VIEW
My late son, a psychologist, asked me one time: “Do you feel more sensitive now that you’re older?” Maybe age does make us more sensitive, especially how people’s remarks can be taken the wrong way. For example, why do some people think we need to be reminded to do things we’ve been doing very well for many years?

As soon as we mentioned tiny little green beans, someone just had to come and tell us that they had already eaten a handful of beans from their garden. Well, that’s just a handful of beans. Immediate relief could be had, however, if people would refrain from parking in the Caltrans easement all the way up to the highway. Those cars block 100 percent of the visibility required to exit the parking lot.

The Wine Tasting and Appetizer Social was a tremendous success. Thanks to all of the volunteers. We are hoping this will be a annual event. Thanks to Kelli Gant for organizing this affair.

JUNCTION CITY MONITOR
The barbecue was set for July 17 and the only thing that could have stopped it would have been fire. Happily the only fire going was the one in the large barbecue pit at the community center. Gary Lynn and Mark Meissner had that fire well under control and were using it like professionals.
