JUNCTION CITY MONITOR
Alex Cousins and Pat Frost came to Junction City last week to inform all of us of the opportunity we have to get help with cleaning up our land and removing the brush. The county has received a grant that will enable them to help with cleaning, mulching and removing the brush around our properties. They had a map that many people marked the properties that most need help with cleaning their property. They will also have chippers that will come and chip the brush you have piled on your property.
They are particularly interested in removing the noxious weed, Scotch broom. Many people think what a beautiful plant, particularly when it is blooming. Its yellow blossoms are bright and light up the area. Scotch broom is a very high fire danger item as it is very flammable. If you have Scotch broom on your property, they would like to remove it.
The meeting was a totally relaxed time, and cookies made by the Fire Jills were enjoyed by all. It was a great disappointment to see how few people came out for the meeting.
Speaking of yellow blossoms, the yellow forsythia is in full bloom and beautiful throughout the county. Along with the blooming daffodils, yellow is the color of the month.
Happy birthday, a little belated, to Kathy Adams, Al Leighton and Ginger Shaw. Kathy’s birthday gives me an opportunity to thank her for the effort she makes to keep us informed of many of the activities that go on in Junction City; she is the lady in the know.
Monday, March 15, is the last chance you will have to get your Girl Scout cookies at the Junction City Store, from 4 to 6 p.m. Come out and support the girls from Troop 70567.
As I write this, they are predicting snow but it looks like a beautiful spring day except there is an icy cold wind blowing. Snow has been predicted many times this year but has yet to come.
