Trinity grant deadlines announced

The Shasta Regional Community Foundation has announced the new funding cycle for the Trinity County Grantmaking Program and the Community Partners Grantmaking Program, all programs of The McConnell Fund at the Community Foundation.

The McConnell Fund Grantmaking Program in Trinity County supports programs and organizations in Trinity County for building and equipmentrelated projects. Funding will be considered in two categories: projects under $10,000 and projects from $10,001 to $30,000. All grant requests must be postmarked by or received at the Community Foundation’s Redding office (1335 Arboretum Drive, Suite B, Redding, CA 96003) by 5 p.m. March 3.

FFA Leadership Contest at Shasta

Shasta College will host the Shasta Section Future Farmers of America Leadership Contest this week. On Friday, Feb. 5. For more information contact agriculture instructors Andrea Donnelley at 530-570- 3690 or Trena Kimler-Richards at 530-242-2209.

‘Operation Appreciation’ at Redding VA

Operation Appreciation at the Redding Outpatient Clinic will be held the third Wednesday of every month beginning at 10 a.m. Feb. 17 for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans and their families

Veterans and family members who are interested may drop in to the Patient Education Room at 10 a.m. every third Wednesday in the Redding Outpatient Clinic at 351 Hartnell Ave., or call 530-226-7583.

Writing for the Children forum set

The Writers Forum will discuss “Writing for the Children’s Market: Picture Books to YA Crossover” from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in Redding at the Memorial Hall of All Saints Episcopal Church, 2150 Benton Drive. The church is located at the corner of Benton Drive and Quartz Hill Road.

Marriage, family therapists meeting

The Redding Regional Chapter-California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists will hold its monthly chapter meeting from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Northern Valley Catholic Social Services conference room, 2400 Washington St., Redding. A brief monthly chapter meeting will be held and followed immediately by a one-hour training on “Rethinking Depression” presented by Lon Clark, psychological assistant in private practice.
