Santa Paws in Weaver

"Santa Paws" visited the Trinity County Animal Shelter last Friday in the annual shelter benefit. Loving pet owners made donations and got pictures of their precious pouches in Santa's lap.

Above, Lola, a Jack Russell Terrier belonging to Barbara Dorris of Redding, in Santa's lap. At right, Max isn't exactly a lapdog, but he told Santa he wants a home for Christmas. The 11-month-old pit bull/Labrador retriever mix is available for adoption at the shelter. For more information, call ACO Christine Edwards at 623-1370. Hours for the shelter at the end of Mountain View Street, Weaverville, are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
