Water vampires prepared to suck Trinity County dry
The 'Water Vampires' are coming. Make no mistake; they will not be satisfied until they have greedily sucked the very life force out of Trinity County. Water is the new gold! It is the greatest resource that Trinity has, along with her timber and biodiversity. Trinity is about to be raped and pillaged.

Stoned from cradle to grave
BIG BAR I was truly humbled when I read the letter from Dr. Malee about the medical uses of marijuana. I had no idea it was a panacea for such a long list of diseases and maladies, perhaps exceeding the efficacy of that popular medicine of earlier generations, snake oil.

2005 was last dinner
The last community Thanksgiving dinner was held in 2005, not 2002, as reported in a recent Trinity Journal. Perhaps the organizers were referring to the last time that HRN sponsored the free Thanksgiving dinner. In 2004 and 2005, the community dinner was held at the Golden Age Center.

Restore the Sheriff's Dept.
It is my understanding that in May the county told the Sheriff's Department to cut $150,000 from their budget, which they did. When the governor took more than $400,000 from the County General Fund, the Sheriff's Department was asked to cut an additional $126,000. I assume this means fewer Deputies in a county that already has too few.

Protect pets from fireworks
This letter is for those folks who typically bring their dogs to the annual Lewiston Bridge Lighting and Fireworks. So, with an official plea, on behalf of your dog(s), please leave them at home! Some owners simply aren't aware of the effect that fireworks have on their dogs and bring them to the festivities.

A community of caring
During a recent emergency and acute stay at Trinity Hospital in Weaverville, I found myself within a community of caring, dedicated professionals who not only treated my physical needs, but provided an atmosphere close to home so my wife, family, and friends could extend their love and emotional support more easily as well.
