Charlotte D. Means
Charlotte D. Means, 82, of Weaverville passed away Oct. 30, 2009, in Redding of complications following colon surgery.
Mrs. Means was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Crescent, Okla., to “Okies” who left the dust bowl for California. She worked at various short-term jobs , the most recent designing and marketing hand-crafted jewelry, painting portraits on various sea shells and serving as secretary for a group of some 50 crafters in Waimanalo, Oahu, Hawaii during the 1970s.
She and her husband, Donald, moved to Lewiston in 1980, residing there for 12 years before moving to Weaverville. She has been an active witness of Jehovah God since 1951 and was active in the Weaverville congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mrs. Means is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Means of Weaverville; son Ralph Means and daughter Sheila Petty of Weaverville; sisters Katy Reich of Lewiston, Ethel Hirel of Mesa, Ariz., and Vera “Sue” Zane of Lewiston; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous relatives.
A memorial service will be conducted by Kenneth R. Johnston at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Kingdom Hall located one mile east of Weaverville on Highway 299.
