Breast cancer info to be distributed Every year in California more than 21,000 women and approximately 180 men are diagnosed with breast cancer. But thanks to strides in early detection and medical treatment, lives are being saved. October has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Think Pink day is Thursday, Oct. 15. NorCal Think Pink is dedicated to increasing public knowledge about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. To get breast cancer information in the hands of the public, NorCal Think Pink Trinity County will distribute 2,000 bags filled with information about mammograms, clinical examinations and self exams. Everyone who picks up a packet also receives a pink carnation. In Weaverville, bags can be picked up in front of Tops Super Foods from 6:30 to 10 a m. and at the post office from 11 a m. to noon. Other locations are in Hayfork, Junction City, Douglas City, Lewiston, Trinity Center, Big Bar, Burnt Ranch and Mad River. For more information, contact Cindy at 623-0676 or 623-4073.
