Flu vaccinations continue

Supplies are limited to Trinity County seniors age 60 or older and others with chronic health problems per CDC guidelines who are unable to get vaccinated through their regular health care provider.

The vaccine is available on a first-come, firstserved basis while supplies last. The fee is $5 per dose.

. Trinity Center: Oct. 8, IOOF Community Hall, 10:30 to 11:30 a m.

. Lewiston: Oct. 8, Lewiston Moose Lodge, 1:30 to 2:30 p m.

. Burnt Ranch: Oct. 15, Indian Association Hall (VFW Hall Road), 10 to 11 a m.

. Junction City: Oct. 15, North Fork Grange Hall, 3 to 4 p.m.

Clinics in Weaverville and Hayfork have already occurred.

Pneumonia and H1N1 vaccines will not be available at these clinics.

Here's who is open/ closed for the observance of Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 12:

Closed: County offices

Banks

Mountain Valley Unified School District (in-service day)

Post offices

U.S. Forest Service and other federal offices.

Open:

Schools (except Mountain Valley district)

The Trinity Journal

Department of Motor Vehicles and other state offices.

All county waste transfer stations will be closed on Monday. If you have curbside can collection or other waste disposal on that day, your pickup service day will be as follows:

North and South County routes and residential routes: The Monday, Oct. 12, pickup will instead be picked up on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Hyampom commercial and transfer site will be picked up on Wednesday, Oct. 14, following the holiday.

Lewiston Lions to meet

The Lewiston Lions Club will hold its breakfast/ business meeting at 7 a m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Mountain Valley Grill on Trinity Dam Boulevard. The agenda includes planning the Halloween Party on Oct. 31. Anyone who would like a booth can call Lew Wood at 778-3806. Members and guests are welcome.

Tolle discussion group

Beginning Oct. 8 and for the next nine Thursdays at 1:30 p m., a group will meet in Hayfork to read and discuss "A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose," by Eckhart Tolle. The group will read one chapter each week, optionally complete and discuss journals, and listen to "A New Earth" podcasts with Eckhart Tolle and Oprah Winfrey.

Participants should read Chapter 1 before the first meeting if possible. There is no charge to attend the discussion group.
