Flu vaccines target different groups
      Vaccinations for the H1N1 virus, also known as the swine flu, are anticipated to become available for at-risk populations around mid- to late-October, Trinity County Public Health Nursing Director Elise Osvold-Doppelhauer said.

Two fires in Trinity Tuesday, home lost
      Firefighters responded to blazes in Hayfork and near Junction City Tuesday afternoon. In Hayfork, a mobile home on fire was reported shortly after 3 p m. on McAlexander Road off Tule Creek Road. A small spot fire was also reported, but the fires were contained within 45 minutes, said Linda Galvan, fire information officer for Cal Fire.

TRAFFIC WATCH
      Caltrans has the following projects scheduled through Saturday, Sept. 12: On Highway 3, from 1.3 miles south of Peanut to 5.6 miles south of the Trinity/Siskiyou county line, bridge work continues from 6 a.m. to 3 p m. through Friday. One-way traffic control will be in place with up to 10-minute delays.

Program for new drivers
      The California Highway Patrol is again offering the Start Smart driver safety program to newly licensed and future licensed drivers in the area. Included in this presentation will be a segment on Impact Teen Driver. The next program is being offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Weaverville CHP office.

      The Trinity County Sheriff's Department received the following calls from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6: AUG. 31 Break-in at a business with industrial equipment stolen, including a tire machine. Fire started at the playground at Lowden Park.

Employees to vote on payroll lag, furlough days
      Trinity County employees are slated to vote Thursday on whether or not to accept a payroll lag or 10 furlough days in the next 10 months to help balance the county budget the Board of Supervisors is scheduled to consider for adoption next Tuesday.

Volunteers sought for river clean-up
      The Shasta-Trinity National Forest invites volunteers to pitch in on the annual Trinity River Clean-Up on Sept. 12. The cleanup of the Trinity River will include floating the river in rafts, canoes and kayaks, and walking along beaches and river bars to pick up trash and debris.
