Healthcare district CEO resigns

Last day is Nov. 20

Mountain Communities Healthcare District CEO Claire Kuczkowski tendered her resignation Tuesday, announcing plans to go back into retirement.
Her last day is to be Nov. 20.
Kuczkowski has headed the district and Trinity Hospital for two and a half years. She arrived as the Trinity County/Trinity Public Utilities District joint powers authority that had been running the hospital was preparing to turn over operations to the new special district that had been formed.
Kuczkowski previously had retired in 2001 from her post as CEO of the Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District in Brawley.
Kuczkowski said she came here to help with the transition to a district and keep the hospital open and solvent.
"I'm happy to say the hospital and district are in good shape," she said. "I feel I'm in a good position now to go ahead and get back to my retirement.
"It has been successful through the efforts of a lot of people," she added. "Everybody's been wonderful."
The healthcare district board will work on a transition plan, she said. It has not yet selected a new CEO.
