Clarification and apology

In a spotlighted letter by Herk Shriner on Aug. 12, a key word was left out in the typing of his letter.

It was a small word, "the," but it changed the meaning of his letter. The full term he used, forever in the black, would have meant the firefighters were safe for eternity. Forever in black has another meaning altogether.

For that, we apologize to Mr. Shriner and anyone who might have been offended.
