Kids and animals are a good combination for an afternoon of fun and entertainment at the Trinity County Fair's 52nd Annual Junior Livestock Auction. The auction will be held at 2 p m. Saturday, Aug. 29, in the Joe and Mary Borden Junior Show Ring. There will be a Buyer's Luncheon at noon in the dining hall beforehand. More ... Kati McMorrow and her brother Dustin are going for it again — the Junior Exhibitor of the Year award at the Trinity County Fair. At the last fair, Kati, now 9, beat out Dustin, 10, by less than 10 points. More ... The Hayfork Seventh-day Adventist Church School will be operating a food concession at the Trinity County Fair. This particular concession is only open on Friday until a half-hour before sundown, and then it is closed all day Saturday, the Sabbath, reopening Saturday night after sundown. More ... New at the Trinity County Fair this year is the Cribbage Tournament on Sunday, Aug. 30 at the Beer Garden. Signups are at 11 a.m.; games start at noon. Sign-up fee is $5. More ... Log Cabin Quilters' Guild is preparing for its 2009 Quilt Show and Quilt Auction at the Trinity County Fair. The quilt show is open every day of the fair and is free with admission to the fair. The huge story out of Hayfork is last Friday's 50-acre fire that erupted at Dead Man's Curve near Wildwood Road and caused a lengthy road closure and power outage that changed just about everybody's weekend plans.
