Double victory for Lumberjacks
      The Trinity Lumberjacks secured their first two victories of the season, beating the Chico Sabers 13-4 and 7-4 in a semi-pro baseball doubleheader under a blazing sun Sunday at Trinity High School. Jeff Malloy pitched the first game for Trinity, holding the Sabers to a three-hitter, striking out five batters and walking seven.

Waves win big at invitational meet
      The Weaverville Waves traveled to Etna for the Scott Valley Swim Team's Sharkfest 2009 June 27-28. The meet consisted of seven teams and 275 swimmers from across the North State and Oregon. Forty Weaverville Wave team members swam in the meet with 13 of the Waves placing in the top-three High Point standings in their age groups.
