IN BRIEF THS grad lauded A 1974 graduate of Trinity High School has won the national Association of Public- Safety Communications Officials' 2009 Radio Frequency Technologist of the Year award. Dave King, whose parents Jacky and Odie King are longtime residents of Weaverville, had previously won the California Public- Safety Radio Association 2009 Radio Frequency Technologist of the Year award. A 20-year employee of the city of Bakersfield, Calif., King is in charge of systems for the city's telecommunications division. King will receive his APCO award at that organization's 75th annual conference Aug. 17 in Las Vegas. HRN awarded $12,500 Shasta Regional Community Foundation Board of Directors recently approved recommendations for funding from The McConnell Fund. Some $140,200 was awarded to nine organizations in Trinity, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Modoc counties through the one-time Emergency Relief and Safety-net program. In Trinity County, the Human Response Network was awarded $12,500 to support increased demand for rental assistance, dry goods, children's shoes and energy assistance. Biochemistry degree Weaverville resident Eric Schleusner was one of 650 students to graduate from Messiah College in Pennsylvania on May 16 during the college's 100th annual commencement. Schleusner graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry.
