Better approach to universal health care than current plans
      I can hardly believe the B.S. coming out of Washington! Today I hear that in order to have a national health program it'll cost the U.S. taxpayer anywhere from one trillion on up to three trillion to only cover about a third of the population. Just how dumb do they really think we are? Does anyone know just how many millions there are in a trillion?

Aviation contributes to economy
      Each month, volunteer pilots from Angel Flight West fly patients needing specialized medical care, including chemotherapy and dialysis, to hospitals throughout California. Many of these patients are from rural areas and would otherwise be hard-pressed to receive the care they need.

Concerns over shelter staffing
      This letter is in protest of the proposed animal shelter attendant position hours. Half-time hours for this position are unacceptable. The animal shelter brings in money for Trinity County, so if the shelter is not available to the public on a full-time basis, this means less revenue comes into the coffers, as well as being a disservice to the community as a whole.
