The Trinity Fire, located about seven miles north of Denny in the Trinity Alps Wilderness, is now approximately 130 acres in size with more than 50 percent containment, fire officials reported Sunday morning. Firefighters made good progress Saturday completing fire lines on the north, west, and south flanks of the Trinity Fire. An increase in fire activity on a fire just a half mile to the west on the Six Rivers National Forest, the LT-17 Fire now renamed the Backbone Fire, hampered suppression efforts and created unsafe conditions for firefighters on the Trinity Fire. It is expected the Backbone Fire will reach the west flank of the Trinity Fire within the next 24 hours. More...

Caltrans has several ongoing projects scheduled through Thursday, July 2, in Trinity County. There are no construction projects scheduled for the three-day holiday weekend July 3-5.
