Lowden pool open soon for summer fun

Lowden Park Pool is slated to open Monday, June 8.

June specials for open swim: The pool is receiving a child abuse prevention grant that encourages families to attend the pool together.

During the month of June, children who attend the pool with their parents or grandparents will all get in free of charge during specified open swim days and times.

The specified days and times occur only in June as follows: Monday and Wednesday evenings, June 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24 and 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday days, June 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27 from noon to 4 p.m.

The pool is also receiving $1,500 from local community service organizations headed up by the Lions Club that will allow any child (age 17 or younger) who is dropped off without a parent or grandparent to be charged $1 rather than the $3 day rate or $2 evening rate. This applies to any open swim time (day or evening) during the month of June.

Children who do not know how to swim cannot be dropped off at the pool, no matter what age they are. For information regarding swim lessons, call the Lowden Park Pool at 623-3640.

For more information, call the Weaverville/Douglas City Parks & Recreation District at 623-5925.
