Airport accusations lacking
Last week the Trinity Journal published more nonsense from Terry Lee Van Dien, a resident of New Mexico. Once again, Van Dien is so far off base with his facts that it would be laughable were he not slandering the county and senior officials in our local government.

Work day in park rewarding
Last Saturday the members of Our Fair Share (OFS), along with other members of the community, participated in an old-fashioned work day at the park. OFS members had decided to celebrate its one-year anniversary by working on a project for our community. Forty-plus people showed up, and after five hours of work we enjoyed a wonderful barbecue and a potluck.

Ugliness reveals end times near
My, my; the potty mouth that roars with unbridled tongue (May 20) continues to wag; spilling out the ugliness of evil rather than perpetuating things that are good, decent, and helpful; this great mouth defiantly set up in the place of God as the measure of all things.

Update cemetery flower policies
Trinity County Cemetery Ordinance Section 13.08.050.C.12 enacted in 1992 requires that during the spring and summer season, all flowers (including artificial) be removed once every 10 days to properly maintain the grass. Flowers not removed after 10 days will be disposed of.

Forget GPS; they already know
I'd like to address all this GPS with the census ado. In the first place, the Forest Service was doing that about 10 or more years ago. I should know because the boys in green came right through my yard carrying backpacks with antennas sticking out of them. If you haven't been GPSed yet, you soon will be whether you like it or not.

The other day my phone rang and a rough man's voice asked for a name I had never heard of, and I told him he had the wrong number. About three minutes later, the phone rang again and another person asked (rough male voice) if I was the person listed in the phone book at my address.

Recreation Guide is fabulous
OK Trinity Journal staff! Your yearly recreation guide gets better every year, but this year it is fabulous. I love the many new stories such as the "Bridge to Nowhere," "Trinity County at a glance," "Plenty to do to keep the kids entertained," and the many new contributing writers.

Thankful for area's dark skies
Where I live, we are blessed to see truly dark skies. Nights are dark here in comparison to city living, giving stars a chance to paint the Trinity skies. The Milky Way is totally visible here. The planets shine! Constellations, nebulas and meteor showers give the amateur astronomer more to look at than time allows.

Appreciation for TV work
Thanks Bill! Sunday afternoon (May 17) the Weaverville TV translator for the CBS and CW networks went off the air. Less than 24 hours later Bill Talkington had brought the equipment down the mountain, repaired it, and had it back in place and working again.
