KAREN KAY BICKLE
Karen Kay Bickle, 60, of Weaverville, entered into rest April 27, 2009. She was born April 9, 1949, in Herlong, Calif. In 1957 her family moved to Weaverville where she and her siblings were later raised in the Brady House.
She began dating her future husband, Chelsea Bickle, in high school and they married in 1969. She attended Shasta College for a short time until she and her husband moved to Escondido, Calif., where she worked in financial management, and they started a family.
In the late 1970s, the family moved to Prineville, Ore., where they lived until the early 1980s, when she and her husband parted ways. She continued in financial management, working with companies throughout the United States, finally settling in Tampa, Fla., and buying a home there in 1996. She moved back to Weaverville in May 2007 to be closer to her family.
In 2008 she was diagnosed with advanced-stage fibrosarcoma. She kept her spirit, positive attitude and beautiful smile throughout her battle, and continued visiting friends, having dinners out and keeping up with her 2- year-old grandson, Jack, who would sneak into her room for playtime and story time with "Grammy." She was able to spend her last days with family and friends.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Brady-Carter; sisters, Marsha Nuss, Dana Brady and Terri Loghery; son, Chelsea Duane Bickle; daughter, Brandy Kay Bickle; and grandchildren, Kailah Bickle, Christopher Wynia, Jack Wynia, Alexandria Knabe and Adelina Bickle. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ken Brady, and brother, Earl Lee Smith Jr.
