Kindergarten roundups

Douglas City

Douglas City Elementary School will hold a Kindergarten Roundup for the 2009-10 school year from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 6. A Public Health Department nurse will be available to update parents on the immunizations necessary to start kindergarten. Children will be assessed for school readiness by the kindergarten teacher, evaluated by a speech therapist and registered to start school in the fall.

Parents should bring their child's vaccination records and birth certificate to the Roundup. Children who will turn 5 on or before Dec. 2 are eligible to start kindergarten in August 2009. Contact the Douglas City School office at 623-6350 for more information.

Junction City

Junction City School is holding its annual Kindergarten Roundup from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 8. Bring the child's birth certificate and immunization records. This an opportunity to complete the school enrollment form, visit the classroom and meet the teacher. Speech evaluation, vision and hearing screening, and Public Health Department information will also be available. Call for an appointment, call 623-6381, or just drop in.
