Common sense over wacko ideas

FROM DARLENE DAILY WEAVERVILLE

WOW! … Someone from San Francisco that has some common sense regarding the environment. ("On Earth Day, don't buy into the eco-doomsaying" April 22 letter to the editor by Sally C. Pipes). As some of you know, no one is bigger on the Earth and animal rights as I am, but this global warming panic is a joke, just as it has been for the last 40 years. Pipes is correct.

Without a (oh, jeez, we're in a crisis) cap and trade transfer of wealth system or any lobbyists (770 firms and interest groups have now hired 2,300 climate lobbyists) that say we're all going to burn to death in a fiery flood, we still have improved our air quality. Reread last week's letter on just how much progress we have made in spite of a 50 percent population increase since 1970. Miles driven has increased by 159 percent.

Some of you remember the 1970 version of global warming and the fear mongers (like the Al Gore and Nancy Pelosi hypocrite liberals of today who fly around in their big jets). From the first Earth Day in 1970, these wackos said then, "air pollution is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in just the next few years alone." Here is another quote: "By 1980 the life expectancy of all Americans will be 42 years." By 1985, "air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching the earth by half."

My gosh, as one television commentator said, "I've been dead all these years and I didn't even know it. Do I smell another Al Gore book on the horizon?" Democrats, who never saw a tax they didn't like, love to create a sense of crisis, as one of Obama's cabinet member said … "never let a good crisis go to waste." Perhaps, before we rush into a system that taxes us (conservative estimates are $3,500 per household annually) with all of the energy we use, we should ask ourselves, can we afford it? I can't!

Let's get our heads out of the sand of stupidity and bring back some common sense. Listen to the scientific community, not the Al Gore environmental wacko liberals.

Darlene, right on girl, glad to hear there are some sensible people residing in Trinity. Well said and written.
