Organic as a safer choice

Thank you to the dedicated members of SAFE (Safe Alternatives for our Forest Environment) and Drew Franklin of Mountain Marketplace for presenting the DVD "The World According to Monsanto" March 6 at the library building in Weaverville.

The question-and-answer session that followed made us aware of how widespread GMO (genetically modified crops) have become. This important film addressed a subject which affects us all. When we make food choices at the market, we are voting with our dollars.

I like to express appreciation to Franklin who diligently monitors all incoming food to his market. He will not hesitate to pull even a goodselling item off his shelf if the supplier cannot guarantee GMO-free ingredients.

How fortunate we are here in this small community to have so many organic food choices. Thank you to all who make that possible.
