All about the almighty dollar

FROM LISA ANGELONE WEAVERVILLE

In response to Norma Johnson's letter on March 25, "Weber Got Off Lightly." You are right, Norma. Our judicial system's sense of crime vs. serious crime is really messed up.

I recall a couple of articles in a newspaper approximately two years ago; the first one I couldn't miss. It was titled in large bold print at the top of the page and took up a quarter of the page. It was about a woman who embezzled $250,000 from a company. She received a sentence of 20 years in state prison.

Down toward the bottom righthand side of the paper was an article about four inches long. It was about a man who had repeatedly, over the course of five years, sexually assaulted a little girl. His sentence was one year in jail, and to register as a sex offender.

It's all screwed up. You can mess with our small innocent children, but by golly, don't mess with the almighty dollar! Weber's wife should have turned him in for tax evasion, if she could. At least she and the daughter would be safe for 20 years instead of one.
